A ceremony to honour 34 outstanding young police officers who made significant contributions to the public security force was held in Hanoi yesterday on the occasion of the 66th anniversary of the People’s Public Security Force (August 19).
The event, organised by the Ministry of Public Security, was attended by Politburo member and Minister of Public Security, Lieutenant General Tran Dai Quang, along with leaders of the Ministry's departments and institutes; members of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee and representatives from the Vietnam Youth Federation.
Nine of the 34 outstanding young police officers received Feat of Arms Orders, third class, from the President for their contributions to defending social security and order and fighting crime. One was awarded the Fatherland Protection Order, third class and 16 others were presented with certificates of merit by the Prime Minister.
Also on the occasion, Lieutenant Le Thanh Tam, 25, who died in action while chasing robbers in Dong Nai province on July 17, 2011 was posthumously honoured by the President with the Bravery Order.
At the ceremony, Minister Tran Dai Quang and Permanent Secretary the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee, Doan Lam Phuong Thanh presented 'Outstanding Young Police Officer' certificates to 33 young police officers and a representative from the family of martyr Le Thanh Tam.
